Celebrating 30 Years of Sharing

Since its inception in 1993, Medi-Share was founded with a vision to cultivate a community reminiscent of the Early Church described in the book of Acts. This vision was grounded in the principle of believers shared everything they had to meet each other's needs.

With more than 350,000 members spanning across all 50 states and more than $7 billion in medical bills discounted and shared since its founding, Medi-Share remains committed to fostering this model of Christian community, which has been abundantly blessed by God. Today, Medi-Share is more than an affordable health care option; it stands as a faith-filled family, united in prayer, support, and celebration of life's moments.

Revenue for the year-ended June 30, 2023 was $144.4 million as compared to $118.6 million in the previous year. Expenses increased to $132.7 million from $123.8 million and net assets increased to $85.6 million, while cash and investments-on-hand increased to $75.4 million at fiscal year-end.

The Health Partnership Program is designed to provide our members with the necessary support and resources they need to lead the long, healthy, and happy lives God intended. Each month, approximately 33% of our 29,000 Health Partnership members actively participate in the program, striving for enhanced well-being.

Engagement with the program, whether through interacting with a coach, utilizing the portal, or leveraging wearable devices, fosters motivation, goal-setting, accountability, education, and ultimately prompts action toward improved health outcomes.

Active involvement in the program fosters a deeper understanding of the body and overall health through transformative lifestyle changes. The primary objective is to implement long-term behavior change, providing a sustainable path toward lasting health improvements. 

This holistic approach yields tangible results, including reduction in key metrics, risk factors, medication dependence, and symptoms, thereby mitigating the onset or progression of preventable disease.

Completion of the program, achieved at a commendable rate of approximately 7%, entails meeting a series of benchmark metrics, used to help our members achieve a more protected state of health, characterized by reduced risks, symptom free function, peace of mind, and a brighter outlook for the future.

Our pharmacy partner, Navitus, offers members considerable savings on their prescriptions, and facilitates discounts for specialty medications for cancer, autoimmune diseases, and bone disorders, through the preferred specialty pharmacy, Lumicera.  

The Pharmacy Management team also works to save members by negotiating with providers on excessive charges, as well as working with members who have medications that are ineligible for sharing to pursue manufacturer and patient assistance programs. 

These savings, along with the considerable savings our members have experienced with the discounted prescriptions and specialty medications, amounted to more than $25 million over the course of FY23.

Medi-Share Moments

During her annual physical in 2022 Janie’s doctor discussed her weight and the associated health risks. Needing to make a change, Janie began working with Coach Wendy. The content and coaching she received went hand in hand with what her doctor suggested.  

In the beginning, Janie talked about how hard it was to make good choices on days she had to run errands. As she set goals and made changes things like dining out got easier! She would eat a healthy snack before she went, not arrive starving and end up not being tempted. Each healthy choice made her stronger!

The biggest thing that stood out to her health coach was her determination to succeed. She even had a non-negotiable daily habit, “I will reach my step goal daily, even if that is the only goal I can achieve.”

Janie lost 67 lbs. in 7 months, including 17 lbs. from October – December. This was the first time she has ever lost weight during the holiday season!

In 2021, Christian Care Ministry initiated a heartfelt endeavor called Project K.E.E.P., aimed at offering prayers for elected officials and their legislative teams. Each day, Medi-Share members and employees unite in prayer, specifically mentioning the names of these officials.

Since the launch of Project K.E.E.P., more than 2,230 elected representatives have been lifted up in prayer. This includes members of Congress, state legislators, Governors, Lt. Governors, and Attorneys General.

By praying for those in positions of authority, we hope to have a meaningful impact on our communities and alleviate the burdens carried by our leaders, fostering a spirit of positivity and support.
